Albert Isaiah Corban is a Barrister and member of the Bar of England and Wales, as well as a practicing solicitor. He is the author of several published novels, including Hostile Milieu (2021), A Migrant’s Dilemma (2024), The Asylum Seekers (2025), Channel Crossing Refugees (2025), and The Migrants (2026). His latest work, The Deportees, continues his exploration of migration, displacement, and the human condition.
Born into a lineage tracing back to the Beta Israel—whose ancestors migrated from Ethiopia before settling in present-day Benin City, Nigeria—his heritage has profoundly shaped his intellectual and creative pursuits. His writing is deeply informed by themes of identity, migration, justice, and belonging.
In addition to his legal training, he holds academic degrees in English, Philosophy, Theology, and Divinity. His multidisciplinary background enriches both his legal practice and literary voice.
He has achieved notable distinction in legal practice, particularly in immigration and asylum law, successfully representing clients in complex appeals, including before the European Court of Human Rights. His work reflects a sustained commitment to the protection of fundamental rights and access to justice.
Earlier in his career, he lectured in English at a university in Nigeria and later served as a Home Office Presenting Officer, representing the Secretary of State for the Home Department in immigration and asylum proceedings.
His interests include documentary filmmaking, history, travel, public speaking, writing, and advocacy for equality and social justice.
